You will serve as a Training Instructor in the Production Resources Department, Employee Development and Quality Division of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will instruct, qualify and certify civilian , military, and contractor personnel. You will develop, maintain, update, and review the subject matter training course, instructional materials, references, etc. You will conduct training course for trades, military, technical, and professional personnel involved in radiological control associated with the Shipyard’s nuclear propulsion plant programs. You will serve as the Point of Contact for all training issues.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing the knowledge of methods and techniques of instruction to develop course objectives, curricula, instructional materials, training plans, and instructional technique. Experience conducting training courses for trades, military, technical and professional personnel involved in radiological control associated with the Shipyards nuclear propulsion plant programs. Experience reviewing, auditing, and evaluating current training courses and courses under development. Experience developing, maintaining, updating and reviewing the subject matter training course, instructional materials and references. Experience developing and maintaining training schedules. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
