About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 470th Military Intelligence Brigade, 717th Military Battalion, at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Duties

Performs Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) analyst functions to include a wide variety of duties encompassing various functional areas. Assists and coordinates internal and national-level production efforts in support of USCENTCOM, JSOC, OGA and SOCOM operational missions and plans. Contributes to the synthesis of intelligence products and services, the management of products being disseminated via various disseminations systems. Is responsible for the production and release of intelligence products supporting US near-real time and national-intelligence missions. Provides production and management elements with current operational information and priorities. Serves as the near-real time Information Management Specialist for their assigned division.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to NSA facilities and networks.
  • Overtime/shift work may be required.

Specialized experience is defined: Interpreting analytical findings to establish and document target development tradecraft, collection opportunities and analytic discoveries; coordinating collection, transcription and intelligence reporting efforts to develop near-real time intelligence information/needs in support of planned and on-going operational missions; and, ensuring that mission related data, technical information, and intelligence reports are available to internal and external consumers via various web portals and approved corporate applications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
