Duties
As a Support Service Specialist, you will:
Plan or assist with coordinating a variety of office functions such as, but not limited to logistical operations, communications, procurement of supplies and equipment, property management and disposal, mail service, equipment maintenance, safety, and transportation.
Act as a Logistical Support Consultant who works with customers to help streamline the process and minimize operation cost to improve the customers' experience. Provides information, addresses questions, and offers cost-effective alternative solutions relative to customers' requirements that include effective procedures, strategies, and coordinating resolutions for any issues or challenges customers may be experiencing.
Provide advisory functions supporting Treasury Operations and drives the objectives of ongoing outreach to foster positive customer engagements and develop long-term customer relationships and experiences.
Utilize the Department of the Treasury and federal government policies, regulations, procedures, and processes to locate the quickest way to resolve issues, the most efficient manner to answer frequently asked questions, and keep the operations as efficient and organized as possible. Responsible for maintaining and following these strategies to support the customers, establishing benchmarks, enabling consistent support, providing a better customer experience, maintaining an effective workflow, and keeping these processes and procedures up to date.
Analyze and revise existing work methods and techniques to improve the productivity and performance of the Logistical Support Branch programs and initiatives. Reviews established procedures and recommended efficient and quality improvements.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience providing solutions to operational issues in an office environment.
Examples of this experience may include:
- Experience making recommendations to improve administrative or support service activities within an office setting; OR
- Experience promoting corporation while coordinating the work of various support services stakeholders; OR
- Experience implementing rules or regulations to provide, or perform, numerous logistical support services functions or services; OR
- Experience providing effective oral and written communications to various support service stakeholders.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); or grade point average (2.95/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society. (Attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.

You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-07 you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
