Job opening: Motor Vehicle Operator

Salary: $24 - 28 per hour

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Utilize safety procedures according to established guidelines. Monitor condition of vehicles to keep maintenance up to date. Operate various types of motorized vehicles according to Army regulations. Document supplies delivered to various destinations to meet mission requirements. Apply safety regulations when operating motorized vehicles to avoid traffic violations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program governed by AR 600-85, The Army Substance Abuse Program. Incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019.
  • This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and for the duration of the employment.

I can operate and drive semi trailer units and tractors to transport needed supplies, materials, and equipment throughout the depot and to various off depot destinations. I can load, arrange, and secure cargo to prevent shifting or falling while the vehicle is in transit. I can follow all instructions, traffic laws, standard operating procedures and safety regulations. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles)Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation)Ability to Operate Safely (Non-motor Vehicles)Operation of Motor VehiclesReliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle OperatorWork Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Efforts: Work requires reaching, bending, turning, and the moving of bands, arms, feet and legs to operate vehicle controls. There is frequent lifting or pushing items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasional handling of items weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Incumbent works outside in an enclosed cab. Is exposed to weather conditions and to all types of traffic where there is possibility of serious accidents. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accident or when loading or unloading vehicle.
