This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Operate a gasoline or diesel powered truck tractor with tanker transporter unit coupled by a turntable (fifth wheel). Operate motor vehicle with gross which weight of approximately 27.000 pounds equipped with vacuum system to remove accumulated sludge and sand from stopped up industrial waste lines at points located ahead of distribution lines. Operate motor vehicle with gross vehicle weight of approximately 15,000 pounds in transporting various material, equipment, and drums of industrial waste to and from various depot locations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete and pass an annual Medical Examination administered by Anniston Army Depot.
• This position requires the incumbent to comply with the Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
• This position requires the incumbent to comply with the Immunizations and Chemoprophylaxis for the Prevention of Infectious diseases.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain HAZWOPER classes and refresher.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain QCI Inspector Classes and refresher.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. I can operate various gasoline or diesel-powered truck tractor with tanker transporter unit coupled by a turntable (fifth wheel) and weighing up to 27,000 pounds. I can operate motor vehicle, in transporting various material, equipment, and drums of industrial waste to and from various locations. I am skilled in making various hoses and hose hookups and operates electric pump and control valves to transfer industrial waste from holding areas to industrial waste tank truck. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT- Work requires reaching, bending, turning, and moving of hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate vehicle controls. There is frequent lifting of items in excess of 45 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in all types of weather, in an enclosed cab and occasionally incumbent is exposed to bad weather during loading and unloading operation. Incumbent is exposed to the usual traffic hazards and may receive minor cuts and bruises while loading and unloading vehicles.
