James J. Peters Medical Center is an extremely complex B tertiary care referral facility. It provides a full range of stat of the art patient care services and serves as an educational and research center.. She/ He will serve as the training administrator for the Medical Support Assistant (MSA) section under the Health Administration Services at the James J. Peter's medical Center.

Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Plans and conducts special projects or studies to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on administrative issues. Responsible for administrative oversight of scheduling programs and policies that apply to a broad range of clinical settings within the organization. Participates in all phases of training, short and long-range developmental planning, implementation, and evaluation. Works with all facility staff to identify and develop continuing education programs for facility quality movement. Monitors, reviews and reports on data regarding scheduling training, scheduling competencies, clinic utilization, electronic wait list (EWL), new enrollee appointment request (NEAR), recall reminders, missed opportunities and workload capture. Develops training guidelines, instructional methods, materials, and new or improved applications of education technology to training programs for topics included in the scheduling package. Modifies annual training plans to keep up with guidelines established by VHA regulations and top management to meet annual training objectives (i.e., scheduling audits) Serves as administrative expert for scheduling at the facility and deliver effective and timely training to a broad range of individuals with differing base knowledge levels, personalities, learning styles and socioeconomic backgrounds. Compiles and prepare reports and assists with facilitating courses for the facility. Arranges training in accordance with the established and approved plan of the VHA scheduling directives. Coordinates projects for development and implementation of training course materials. Develops diagnostic instruments to assess training needs Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/06/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: planning and conducting special projects or studies to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on administrative issues. Incumbent develops and provides training, training guidelines, instructional methods, materials, and new or improved applications of education technology to training programs for topics included in the scheduling package. Incumbent in this position will have knowledge with VHA scheduling directives. Assisting managers and employees with Information on VHA scheduling directives, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Develops and implements training course materials. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR, 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR, LL.B or J.D., if related Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as described above. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily conducted in a sedentary position with repetitive motion and some twisting with limited occasional bending, stretching, stooping, and walking. Walking between locations. Work Environment: The primary workstation may be in a general open office setting is dependent upon space availability. Environmental, ergonomic, and work safety practices are observed. The position requires completion of all mandatory safety training.
