This position reports to the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, the Assistant Commandant for Response Policy, Office of Marine Environmental Response Policy, Domestic Preparedness & Planning Division (CG-MER-4) located in Anchorage, AK.
This is a Term Appointment not to exceed (NTE) 4 years.
Duties
The incumbent will serve as a member of the Office of Marine Environmental Response Policy that is responsible for developing, interpreting, and implementing rules and regulations concerning maritime and environmental safety issues as they relate to the Vessel Response Plan (VRP) Program. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicant must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12 or equivalent) in the Federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience must include:
Developing or recommending new or revise existing policy guidance impacting marine safety or environmental protection/mitigation; AND
Assisting with establishing regulatory or response planning criteria; AND
Reviewing response plans in the maritime industry.
NOTE: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
