You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Strategic Microelectronics Division (GXM), Radiation Test & Evaluation Branch (GXMR) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,435).
Duties
You will provide test support to the Strategic Microelectronics Division, GXM for the TRIDENT Missile (SP23, and SP27) Programs and Air Force Hardness Critical Items (AF HCI) Program and Trusted and Assured Microelectronics (TA and M) program.
You will perform and train personnel in radiological operations specifically, gamma irradiator testing, handling of neutron irradiated electronic components, and shipping/receiving of radiologic material.
You will manage laboratory processes to maintain technical rigor and discipline of part testing operations and performing on-the-job training of personnel for those testing operations.
You will be responsible for managing cable, circuit board fabrication to include creation of a prototype and development area that supports technology types not previously available, to fulfill mission requirements.
You will manage 6S operations in the radiation lab: removing unnecessary items from the lab, ensuring all work surfaces are clearly marked and organized, ensuring areas are safe for electronic parts work (i.e. Temp, Humidity, lighting, and noise).
You will manage equipment usage and allocation in the Radiation Lab: identification and ordering of equipment needed to meet mission requirements, decommission and disposal of equipment no longer required for current/future mission requirements.
You will be responsible for communication of equipment plans with Branch management to ensure lab and Branch goals are consistent.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band,
NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent grade level) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical electronic engineering leadership and guidance for radiation testing of microelectronic systems, components, or subcomponents to ensure compliance with safety and security measures in support of technological advancement and sustainment of the fleet.
