You will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SPECIALIST in the NAVAL INFORMATION WARFIGHTING DEVELOPMENT CENTER of NAVINFOWARDEVCEN NORFOLK.
Duties
You will provide administrative support in preparing and reviewing correspondence, instructions and notices to facilitate an efficient and effective environment.
You will greet visitors and answer telephone calls, receiving incoming correspondence and screens material prior to distribution for suspense dates.
You will track the routing of military award recommendations, fitness reports, orders, training and travel arrangements.
You will assist with the control and accountability of classified documents within the office.
You will provide senior level administrative support, assistance and guidance to the Information Warfighting Development Center (IWDC) Headquarters command personnel, military and civilian staff at various IWDC locations throughout the U.S.
You will track and coordinate IWDC domain wide military and civilian required personnel activities; e.g. routing of military award recommendations, orders and ensure all formats are correct and complete in accordance with governing instructions.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- Occasional evening/weekend work is required.
Qualifications
To qualify for a GS-09 your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify and resolve issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature;
Experience applying knowledge of management principles and regulations to review, and analyze administrative functions such as personnel, record keeping, training, awards and other programs;
Experience developing administrative processes and procedures to facilitate more efficient and effective operations;
Experience preparing and reviewing administrative correspondence, command instructions and notices;
Experience maintaining schedules, military and civilian personnel support, supply/ logistics support, travel requirements, staff communication, contractual requirements and staff funding integration.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
