You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the inspection Division, Quality Assurance Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will facilitate the receipt inspection process by coordinating inspection priorities, completion dates, requirement tests, etc. between the branch inspectors, codes and shops.
You will be assigned a broad program in which you must be familiar in the use of a number of standard electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering principles, methods, and practices.
You will track material undergoing receipt inspection by maintaining an automated status report.
You will assist in providing recommendations on procurement packages for non-standard materials utilizing plans, specifications, and NAVSEA requirements, as well as vendor historical data.
You will develop methods for analyzing quality data sources to be used to detect adverse trends.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: utilizing quality assurance techniques and procedures to perform audits or surveillances of shipbuilding processes, products, or materials; analyzing quality data to identify adverse trends or deficiencies; and developing corrective actions.
For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: utilizing quality assurance techniques and procedures to perform audits or surveillances of shipbuilding processes, products, or materials; analyzing quality data to identify trends or deficiencies; and generating report of findings.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
For the GS-11:
- A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position, or
- Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position, or
- An LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled
For the GS-09:
- A master's or equivalent graduate degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position, or
- Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position, or
- An LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled
