You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the Nondestructive Test Division, Quality Assurance Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will serve as the Nondestructive Test (NDT) Code 135 technical expert responsible for the correct interpretation and application of NAVSEA directives. You will be responsible for planning and developing Shipyard instructions for the application and implementation of NAVSEA NDT instructions and requirements. You will conduct internal and external quality assurance audits and surveillances in the field of radiography, ultrasonics, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, visual and eddy current test methods. You will prepare and review official correspondence, formal technical reports, fact sheets, status reports, and schedules as required to verify product quality and to compete project assignments. You will serve as Division representative at meetings with NAVSEA, contractor, and Shipyard personnel.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience planning and executing Nondestructive Testing (NDT) quality assurance audit or surveillance projects for ensuring process and product conformity requirements are achieved in support of the overhaul or repair of naval vessels.
