You will serve as a Lead Ship Life Cycle Manager (L-SLCM) in the Maintenance Planning Branch, Availability Planning Division, Carrier Planning Activity (CPA) of CARRIER PLANNING ACTIVITY.
Duties
You will be the leader for the managing and planning of baseline maintenance requirements and modernization of aircraft carriers.
You will coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques.
You must function as the principal responsible for aircraft carrier lifecycle planning for his or her assigned ship.
You will administer, maintain, and oversee a formal process for deferral, scope change or cancellation request for any item contained in each Baseline Availability Work Package (BAWP).
You will identify, assess, analyze and improve overall process effectiveness and work products.
You will represent the team in dealings with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of
obtaining resources, and securing needed information or decisions from the supervisor on major work problems
and issues that arise.
You will lead ten to twelve GS-12 SLCMs (Lead Ship Life Cycle Manager).
You will articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problems to be
solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and
time frames for completion.
You will develop and coordinate maintenance of Planned Modernization metrics to support Carrier Team l initiatives.
You must maintain a working level knowledge of aircraft carrier repair and modernization principles.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- Position requires use of personnel protective equipment, and medical surveillance.
Qualifications
Your resume must demostrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing or evaluating baseline maintenance data (e.g. lifecycle control, modernization strategies, etc.) to develop recommendations for the improve overall process effectiveness of surface ships maintenance planning projects.
