Duties
You will analyze and define network requirements.
You will define and maintain network architecture and infrastructure.
You will review and identify specific potential vulnerabilities existing in the network infrastructure.
You will configure and optimize network servers, hubs, routers, switches, and DoD and commercial encryption devices.
You will diagnose and resolving network problems.
You will analyze, isolate, and repair network issues.
You will install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating systems software.
You will ensure the rigorous application of information security/ information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services.
You will communicate authoritatively both orally and in writing at all levels of the organization and develop succinct and well-organized written correspondence, plans, reports, and briefs.
You will coordinate the work of lower-level specialists who may be involved in performing segments of the overall project task under your cognizance.
You will research and stay up to date on latest data network concepts and technologies, such as SDN and SD-WAN.
You will gain understanding and implement Zero Trust architecture.
Requirements

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for framework role 441, level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing Information Technology work designing, configuring, administering, or troubleshooting information system networks, network components, or architecture.
In addition, your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: monitoring and maintaining IT networks or server configurations.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: working with customers to determine IT system requirements or resolve network problems; reviewing IT systems to recommend network enhancements.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: participating in IT working groups; providing advice or guidance to customers or management on implementing IT network enhancements or maintaining IT system performance.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency may include: identifying or isolating IT network architecture problems and recommending solutions or correcting problems.
