You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environmental Division (Code 106.3) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will update program instructions or guidance applicable to the implementation of environmental standards and regulations.
You will issue environmental program and project assessments.
You will provide support and ensure compliance with environmental policies and regulations.
You will assist in the maintenance of equipment needed to monitor environmental programs.
You will review technical work documents prior to starting work to validate the appropriate environmental requirements.
You will coordinate visits by contractors and other agency representatives to provide information or inspections.
You will ensure proper record keeping and compliance per NAVSEA requirements.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector executing environmental protection programs, assisting with the development of instructions and guidance related to environmental requirements, and collaborating with others for the safe execution of work to ensure a continued commitment to environmental stewardship and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with environmental protection programs, conducting environmental compliance inspections or assessments, or investigating and advising on problems to ensure a continued commitment to environmental stewardship and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-11:
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
- or
- 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
- or
- LL.M., if related
GS-09:
- master's or equivalent graduate degree
- or
- 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
- or
- LL.B. or J.D., if related
