You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Combat Systems Engineering and Planning Division, Engineering and Planning Department, of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will provide management advisory and technical solutions for testing, certification and archiving for weapons systems in support of the Combat Systems Test Program. You will identify requirements and plan testing method procedures for system and component testing. You will develop procedures and techniques as required for unique situations. You will evaluate test methods considering the usual engineering factors to produce cost effective and technically accurate products and problem resolutions in support of the test programs. You will prepare designs and specifications for special test equipment and fittings. You will review test or work control documentation prepared by junior engineers and engineering technicians for technical correctness, completeness, accuracy, practicability, efficiency and conformance to established policy guidelines. You will conduct ship-checks to check applicability of existing plans and technical manuals, and to determine testing or work control solutions and techniques. You will conduct reviews and evaluations of completed test results for conformance to requirements and specifications. You will monitor the execution of testing through on-site inspections and use of approved test documentation. You will identify scheduling problems that could affect scheduled testing and recommend corrective actions to assigned work leader.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying technical engineering methods, practices, and principles to plan, schedule, and execute testing and certification of ship or submarine weapons systems (e.g., identify test requirements; evaluate test methods; develop testing criteria, procedures or instructions) ; and analyzing technical engineering problems (e.g., scheduling and integration conflicts; atypical problems; inefficiencies; nonconformance) to develop remedial actions.
