You will serve as a Supply Management Specialist within Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Headquarters, Mechanicsburg, PA under the Executive for Strategic Initiatives - Strategic Supplier Management (SSM) Division

Duties

You will be responsible for ensuring DLA logistics support of Navy weapons systems/equipment meets or exceeds agreed-to performance thresholds/goals and alerting senior leadership of potential problems and/recommendations for corrective action. You will provide guidance and expert advice for the Navy Supply Chain function or designated Business Process across all locations where the process is performed. You will support the Supply Chain Management Policy and Performance Directorate through facilitation of research and providing expert functional knowledge in the Navy Supply Chain. You will develop and monitor implementation of Navy tactical and strategic, short, mid and long-term logistics integration plans with DLA. You will coordinate the establishment of quantitative parameters for business process execution. You will develop innovative strategies and procedures to overcome process problems and to evaluate, maintain, and improve process performance.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS - 13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, performing the duties of a Supply Management Specialist, and possessing a mastery knowledge of the missions and operations of Navy shore and afloat activities, the Naval logistics mission and supply chain management policies and procedures in order to provide cross-organizational support and problem solving, relating to enterprise-wide efforts. Examples of specialized experience include the following: 1) Ensuring Navy Warfighter needs are met at best value and on schedule to support mission critical operations and deliver sustained global logistics support; 2) Initiating, developing, issuing, and implementing NAVSUP policies, procedures, business rules, and other guidance relevant to the assigned supply chain function; 3) Planning, developing and implementing process and policy changes that address process weaknesses and improve the level of support to customers as well as internal efficiencies; 4) Developing and monitoring implementation of Navy tactical and strategic, short, mid and long-term logistics integration; 5) Determining resource needs, evaluating impact of resource constraints, and recommending action for enhancing the efficiency of the assigned business process, functions and procedures.
