About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Executive, Deputy Commander for Quality and Safety at Tripler Army Medical Center, which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. Advance in Hire may be authorized. This is only available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Analyze the effectiveness of the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) performance for all types of support service to its customers. Identify trends that reflect existing, perceived, or potential customer-related problem areas. Brief the board of directors and department chiefs on status and effectiveness of customer service initiatives on a regular basis. Advise individuals at all levels on service recovery to improve organizational behavior, communication strategies, and interpersonal communication. Assess responses to the command's Outpatient and Inpatient Satisfaction Surveys to inform the command on patient feedback and make improvements in customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may be required to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • This position may be designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Analyzing reports to improve customer experience; 2) Providing recommendations to address problems; 3) Maintaining customer relationships; and 4) Providing effective oral communication with a wide range of audience. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)LeadershipProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
