You will serve as a SUPERVISORY HEALTH SYSTEM SPECIALIST in the Medical Boards Office, Patient Administration Department of NMRTC CAMP LEJEUNE NC. THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will serve as the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO)/Assistant to the Medical Board Supervisor. You will uphold a wide-ranging knowledge of all command policy, guidance and program activities. You will maintain an effective working relationship with other key program officials. You will provide support for military personnel being processed through DES (Disability Evaluation System). You will supervise staff. You will provide support in answering congressional inquiries.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B The incumbent must, as a condition of employment, be immunized on an annual basis against influenza.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing and studying of pertinent directives and issuances pertaining to the Disability Evaluation System (DES) processing in order to provide explanation and interpretation of rules and regulations as directed by Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV), Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), Chief, Bureau of Naval Personnel (BUPERS), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and local instructions. Experience communicating and coordinating with Veteran Affairs (VA) team as well as the DES Counsel Program. Experience utilizing DES database; Veteran Tracking Application (VTA), and Limited Duty Sailor Marine Readiness Tracking (LIMDU SMART) to update and collect information on all personnel processing through Limited Duty and/or Medical Board. . Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
