You will serve as a HEALTH SYSTEM SPECIALIST in the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility of NMRTC CAMP LEJEUNE NC.
Duties
You will generate standard and customized management reports and charts.
You will be responsible for the effective application of policies/procedures and other related managerial tasks.
You will serve as the primary liaison between the military member and other agencies.
You will track all assigned cases, analyzes performance against established metrics related to Disability Evaluation Systems (DES) processing performance.
You will collect demographic information on personnel enrolled in the DES/MEB program, tracks progress of the medical board throughout facility, automate production of local forms necessary in the medical board process.
You will prioritize work of high priority, recognizing the different motivations of the internal customers and the external customers while maintaining operations according to policies and guidelines.
You will utilize standard office equipment such as desktop computers, typewriter, fax, scanner, printers, office copiers and data transcribing procedures.
You will utilized policies and procedures of the Health Insurance and Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act and directives issued by competent authorities to ensure confidentiality of information.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Interpreting and Appling complex policies and regulations to counsel and resolve individual disability cases/claims.
Generating standard and customized management reports and charts.
Tracking assigned cases, analyzes performance against established metrics related to Disability Evaluation Systems (DES) processing performance.
Establishing work flow methods and procedures, determining work to be accomplished, and set work priorities.
Applying complex fact-finding, analytical and investigative techniques to gather factual information to determine the appropriate treatment of matters as they apply to moderately complex benefits and issues of service members and retirees.
Communicating orally and in writing to prepare and present findings using Microsoft Office Suite proficiently.
Understanding and using coding techniques in such areas as Veterans Affairs Schedule of Rating Disabilities (VASRD).

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
Successful completion of Two full years of graduate education provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Must provide transcripts for consideration.
Or
Successful completion of a -a master's degree provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Must provide transcripts for consideration.
Or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
