You will serve as a Training Instructor in the Training Branch of the Inspection, Test, QA Division in the Lifting and Handling Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will develop, revise and adapt assigned courses.
Prepare lesson plans and training material based on crane maintenance and lifting and handing processes.
You will assess student progress and determine best methods for instruction.
You will apply computer-based training and computer simulations for efficient and modern learning experiences.
You will participate in audits, critiques, investigations, surveillances and process improvements to maintain active involvement in work processes.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds in weight.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing training or technical guidance to others in lifting and handling services and crane maintenance;
Experience maintaining training records and developing training reports;
Experience utilizing various technology which include multimedia, computer based training and computer simulation;
Experience assisting with the development of training aids and courses;
Experience identifying and determining learning objectives by conducting assessments and analyses.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree
or
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
