The primary purpose of this position is: To manage community relations performances by the USAF Band of the West throughout its geographic area of responsibility.
Duties
Serve as a member of the Band of the West's Senior Staff contributing to the development of policies and strategies that will advance the vision of the Commander and mission of the Band of the West, 502ABW, AETC, SAF/PA, and the USAF through positive and robust community connections.
Plans, coordinates, and provides oversight for civilian guest artist contractors talent acquisition through engagement in Talent Scouting and Industry Networking.
Plans, coordinates, and provides oversight for venue acquisition employing knowledge regarding performance, logistical, and technical requirements for USAF Band of the West music groups.
Plans, coordinates and oversees the operational activities of the Band of the West.
Serves as Senior Project Manager and is responsible for the planning and execution of the Band of the West's key military and civilian stakeholder events and strategic outreach and recruiting projects and productions (such as the unit's State Funeral Plan, Independence Day, Veteran's Day, Holiday in Blue, Fiesta in Blue, National Red Ribbon Week, Texas Band Master's Association, etc.).
Serves as the unit-level subject matter expert on copyright law and its application to multimedia products created by the Band of the West.

- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. The band’s schedule frequently includes night and weekend performances which requires the employee’s attendance.
- Employee must travel throughout band’s geographic area of responsibility to conduct site visits and coordinate with potential civilian sponsors and military officials; therefore, requires employee to have/maintain a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Knowledge of all types of music ensembles and performing experience to ensure appropriate ensemble is assigned to meet specific request needs; (2) Knowledge of performance avenues and suitable civilian and military concert sites to plan effective regional and national tours and (3) Knowledge of applicable US Code and DoD policy to determine legality and appropriateness of accommodating individual musical support requests.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Thorough knowledge of complex concepts, principles, policies (US Code and DoD/AF policy interpretation), and practices of Air Force Public Affairs, Air Force Bands, Air Force Recruiting, Community Relations and Engagements.
2. Knowledge of current (and relevant) publicity and marketing standards and trends to effectively promote regional and national tour performances.
3. Exhibits strong financial acumen and attention to detail, ensuring precise and accurate project delivery to include tracking project change orders, securing approvals, and managing scope creep within the timeframe of a project.
4. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, with poise, tact and diplomacy to negotiate logistical arrangements and clarify requirements with military and civilian customers.
5. Demonstrate skills in gathering, research, and analyzing data/facts; developing conclusions; identifying trends' developing alternatives/solutions; demonstrate creative/critical thinking and making recommendations to resolve challenges/obstacles.
6. Ability to actively engage in continuous process improvement initiatives by staying informed about updated mandates and procedures, showcasing adaptability to changes (due to manning, funding or unforeseen circumstances), and aligning the skill set with the evolving vision and mission.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
