This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DOMESTIC DEFENSE INDUSTRIAL BASE (DIB) FACILITIES AND THE MAJOR RANGE AND TEST FACILITIES BASE (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Support professionals and technicians by performing a variety of Computer Aided Draft and Design (CADD) assignments.
Review and analyses design drawings to ensure proper formatting and drafting techniques.
Confer with contractor representatives to resolve problems.
Review contractor proposals and assists in negotiations with contractors.
Search manufacture's catalogs and standards manuals for design characteristics such as dimensional data, code requirements, and procedures.
Research technical reference materials for construction and buildings standards and searches for any similar projects from the record drawing files.
Analyze design drawings to ensure proper formatting and drafting techniques, assuring that packages are free from design error.
Review As-Built Drawings to ensure proper formatting and drafting techniques were utilized by the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation NACI T1.
- One year probationary period.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

GS-05
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Prepare drawings using Computer Aided Design and Drafting software and conventional drafting methods. 2) Ascertain planned projects are in conformance with established design and agency standards. AND 3) Conduct field investigation of sites to collect necessary data needed for design work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Prepare drawings using Computer Aided Design and Drafting software and conventional drafting methods. 2) Ascertain planned projects are in conformance with established design and agency standards. 3) Conduct field investigation of sites to collect necessary data needed for design work. AND 4) Perform quality assurance inspections of ongoing construction work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the semester hours must have been in drafting.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
GS-07
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Prepare drawings using Computer Aided Design and Drafting software and conventional drafting methods. 2) Ascertain planned projects are in conformance with established design and agency standards. 3) Conduct field investigation of sites to collect necessary data needed for design work.4) Perform quality assurance inspections of ongoing construction work AND 5) Participate in final approvals of construction or contract service work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the semester hours must have been in drafting.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
