About the Position: This position will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Directorate of Production Engineering at Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, PA.
Duties
Serve as the senior engineering technician for the Industrial Operations Facility with responsibility for the design, operation, maintenance, modification, test and improvement of industrial facilities, equipment, devices, operations, and processes.
Interpret, select, adapt, and apply a variety of guidelines, precedents, and engineering practices specific to facility operations.
Collect and analyze engineering data and make sound engineering decisions or compromises in optimizing, adjusting, correcting, designing, maintaining, and modifying controls, settings, procedures, equipment processes and systems.
Requirements
- Must complete 40-hours of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) mandated training for hazardous site workers, hazardous materials and waste handlers within one (1) year of placement in position.

Specialized Experience at the GS-10 Level: To qualify applicants must identify in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the federal service that demonstrates the following: 1) Operating, troubleshooting, and electro-mechanical maintenance and repair of electroplating, anodizing, and metal finishing systems; 2) Operating, troubleshooting, and electro-mechanical maintenance and repair of pollution abatement equipment for chemically contaminated air and water; AND 3) Operational and maintenance knowledge of both analog and digitally controlled analytical sensors, meters, and process controllers.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Specialized Experience at the GS-11 Level: To qualify applicants must identify in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-10) in the federal service that demonstrates the following: 1) Operating, troubleshooting, and electro-mechanical maintenance and repair of electroplating, anodizing, and metal finishing systems; 2) Operating, troubleshooting, and electro-mechanical maintenance and repair of pollution abatement equipment for chemically contaminated air and water; 3) Operational knowledge of process exhaust scrubbing, wastewater recycling, waste pretreatment, and waste treatment processes; 4) Operational and maintenance knowledge of both analog and digitally controlled analytical sensors, meters, and process controllers; AND 5) Operations and maintenance experience in modern membrane and resin technologies utilized for treatment and dewatering of concentrated chemical wastes.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
