The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a division-level principal office assistant performing various clerical & administrative duties in support of the organization.
Duties
Uses advanced functions to perform office automation support using multiple automated programs & software that requires complex formats such as correspondence, databases, spreadsheets, reports & graphics.
Prepares/reviews/finalizes a wide variety of recurring & nonrecurring correspondence, reports, & documents, prepared by self or others.
Screens incoming communications to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to other offices, or handled personally.
Answers nontechnical requests for information such as status of reports, updating trackers & suspense dates, answers telephone calls, mail pick-up/delivery, maintains supervisor's calendar, coordinates/schedules meetings & conferences, & coordinates w/ supervisor IAW supervisor's policies/priorities.
Serves as the liaison between management, subordinate units, & counterparts at various levels on administrative, clerical, & procedural requirements & instructions IAW existing guidelines.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skill: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certifications of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband DU-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-4 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience with preparing/reviewing correspondence and documents, maintaining supervisor's calendar, scheduling meetings and/or conferences, or using advanced office automation software. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
OR
EDUCATION: 4 years above high school education obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable towards meeting the specialized experience requirement. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
