About the Position: Serves as the Executive Officer to the Garrison Commander (GC) and Deputy Garrison Commander (DGC) of the U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
Duties
Serves as a principal representative of the installation management team, meeting with Commanders and top management officials of the installation and tenant organizations.
Prepares policy drafts subject to the approval of the Garrison Commander and/or Deputy Garrison Commander.
Formulates and recommends new policies and revisions of policy, program documents and regulations to provide advice and assistance to the Garrison staff.
Reviews projects and fund estimates, including space allocation, project locations, facility and equipment requirements and personnel requirements.

Issues a broad array of operating program guidance to supplement higher echelon and Command policies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- May be required to work weekends, evenings and holidays.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing staff advice, assistance and/or expert consultation in response to senior leadership and/or subordinate inquiries related to installation staff actions, projects and programs; providing administration support to accomplish budget, manpower, and/or administrative tasks; initiating and/or composing correspondence for programs and/missions; directing and/or assigning work to staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
