The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Protocol Specialist, 688th Cyberspace Wing (688 CW), responsible for planning, managing, and executing the Wing's protocol program. The incumbent drafts Wing protocol policies, develops protocol programs, and accomplishes administrative and executive activities for the organization.
Duties
Manages, directs, and coordinates protocol activities of the 688th Cyberspace Wing, ensuring that customer needs are met by complying with legal and regulatory requirements as it applies to protocol guidance outlined in AFI 34-1201, Protocol; AFPAM 34-1202, Guide to Protocol; and AFI 65-603, Official Representation Funds.
Develops and implements Wing protocol policy and procedural guidance in support of the Commander, Vice Commander, and DISL.
Represents the Wing with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Maintains custodial control of the Commander's Official Representation Funds (ORF) and Special Morale and Welfare Funds (SM&W).

- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to SCI, other Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Special Access Programs to perform the duties of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of experience with concepts, principles, and practices of wing protocol, military ceremonies, traditions, customs and courtesies, both national and international, and a broad knowledge of all military service, Combatant Commands, Department of State, and other agencies and organizations within the federal government. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of and experience with the concepts, principles, and practices of protocol, military ceremonies traditions, customs and courtesies, both national and international, USCC, MAJCOM and Wing level, as well as flight line protocol.
2. Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, precedents, local guidelines and local organizations which affect the protocol program and related support; and knowledge of world political situations; US and foreign military rank structure, political configuration, and order of precedence.
3. Detailed knowledge of Air Force policy concerning expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated protocol funds.
4. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools and techniques to produce a variety of documents such as invitations, RSVP and menu cards, programs, and itineraries, etc.
5. Skill in using tact and diplomacy to accomplish work through others and coordinate official functions.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with skill in working with high-level military and civilian officials and maintaining effective working relationships with groups as well as geographically separated unit personnel interested in or affected by ceremonial and protocol programs and policies.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
