This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for leading public affairs activities in support of the DINFOS mission. This includes overall responsibility of executing the DINFOS communication plan, campaigns and outreach efforts designed to provide information about DINFOS activities to a wide variety of internal and external audiences.
Duties
As a Public Affairs Specialist at the GS-1035-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Managing communication plans, campaigns and outreach efforts.
Serving as a key member on planning teams for important events.
Managing content for the internal and external web presence.
Maintaining effective working relationships across the school.
Arranging for command visits and orientation to include the scheduling of official visits; correspondence and discussions with requesting official(s); and ensuring proper coordination of administrative matters.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-12 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
Developing and executing communication plans, campaigns and outreach efforts;
Communicating through various form of media, in-person and in writing;
Performing protocol and event planning, scheduling and execution;
Maintaining the currency and accuracy of internal and external web presences;
Managing web-based materials distributed via social and electronic media;
Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
