This National Guard position is for a HR SPECIALIST (MILITARY), Position Description Number NGD2009000 and is part of JFHQ-G-1. This is a Title 32, Dual-Status position.

Duties
As a HR SPECIALIST (MILITARY), GS-0201-9, you will:
This position is located in the Military Personnel Office (MILPO) of the Army National Guard (ARNG). The purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise and guidance for all military personnel assigned in the State and oversees the functions of one of the following human resources programs: Officer Personnel Management (OPM), Enlisted Personnel Management (EPM), Personnel Systems, SIDPERS Interface Branch (SIB), or the Educational Services Branch.
This position will work within the G1 Education Services Branch

- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Enlisted to O3. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit efficient communication. Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings. Ability to assess body language and perceive emotional and/or distress levels. Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Specialized experience is experience that prepared the applicant to perform the duties of the position. The applicant's educational-degree study program or military or civilian academic courses may substitute for some specialized experience. An applicant must demonstrate the specialized experience competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors) to qualify for a position identified by its position grade and career level. Specialized experience factors encompass human resources program's business competencies, familiarity with the subject matter or processes used in human resources programs associated with DoD, U.S. Army, or U.S. Air Force.

- Knowledge to interpret policy and provide procedural guidance to commanders, supervisors, staff members and individual military members.
- Knowledge to participate in Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) and unit mobilizations and de-mobilizations.
- Knowledge of the military missions and organizational structures of the various units within the state.
- Skill in analyzing information, to determine its relevance, and to provide options to management/supervisors/military members regarding appropriate course of action.
