Duties
Oversee the expediting of wholesale and non-standard materials to meet customer requirements at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Oversee accuracy and completeness of internal shipyard procurement request documents for standard and nonstandard materials.
Directs implementation of programs and procedures for material management and logistics support to customers.
Leads the Material Division to facilitate the expediting of materials as it relates to contracting, credit card purchasing, ship repair availability planning, and required customer support work.
Ensures shipyard systems and databases are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
Performs and directs analysis, evaluation and documentation of work processes to coordinate all aspects of supply support.
Interface with DLA Maritime and shipyard senior managers to establish new procedures, resolve problems, craft new policies and procedures, close process gaps, and secure process agreements for supply and shipyard operations.
Establish support teams for every Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availabilities (e.g. Project Managers (PMs) and expeditors).
Ensure high priority materials are tracked and expedited daily.
Oversee the management of shop store materials and ensures assigned / related reports are compiled accurately and as scheduled.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supervisory Supply Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Planned and executed initiatives that have cross-code / organization impacts on supply and material expediting operations.
Used DoD or major commercial industrial material support and planning systems.
Recommended process-specific improvements to daily routines/operations.
Performed and/or directed analysis, evaluation and documentation of work processes related to supply support operations.
Investigated and corrected material problems that may cause declining performance trends, deviations from required procedures or areas for continuous improvement.

Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
