You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Supply Department (Code 500), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will develop, adapt, and control plans, programs, policies, and procedures within the framework of technical guidance. You will ensure all material required for repair and alteration of ships during availabilities is ordered and sourced correctly to support production schedules. You will coordinate with expeditors embedded with the project and production teams to procure and deliver urgent material. You will develop and initiate administrative procedures and controls to ensure that the material requisitions are processed in orderly manner within the time and budget constraints. You will select, direct, and control subordinate support staff. You will provide subordinates the requirements and descriptions of the work to be performed and tracks progress. You will resolve work problems presented by subordinates and recommend or implement ways to improve production/quality of work in the division.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience supervising support of make vs. buy analysis and identification of potential vendors. Reviews requirements and determines best method of support to ensure customers receive materials expeditiously. Experience developing and adapting programs, policies, and procedures for technical guidance of project support. Experience providing oversight and guidance to Project Material Managers (PMMs) and material expeditors. Experience resolving major conflicts between existing policy and program objectives. Experience displaying mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of material support and knowledge to serve as the supply department authority on both shipyard material quality and material support.
