You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Production Resources Department (Code 900), Production Workforce Development and Resource Manager (Code 900B), Consolidated Training Division (Code 900T), Non-Nuclear Training Branch (Code 900T1) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will develop, revise, and adapt assigned courses. You will develop facilities, training devices, and evaluation tools. You will conduct needs assessments and task analyses to determine learning objectives. You will develop training schedule. You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives. You will conduct the training and assess progress of students in meeting desired objectives, including advising and assisting them to improve their performance. You will keep abreast of changing administrative and technical requirements.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.

Qualifications

GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience developing instructional material and leading discussions on course content. Experience reviewing course material to ensure latest advances and integration of related subject areas. Experience implementing practical knowledge of education and training principles and techniques and practices. Experience effectively instructing others. Experience with the knowledge of one of the following trades sheet metal, electrician, HV Electrician, boatbuilder, woodcrafter, painter, fabric worker, shipwright or pipefitter to ensure ability to instruct generic training. Experience incorporating the latest developments and integrate subjects into instruction to maintain up to date training. GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience implementing practical knowledge of education and training principles and techniques and practices. Experience effectively instructing others. Experience with the knowledge of one of the following trades sheet metal, electrician, HV Electrician, boatbuilder, woodcrafter, painter, fabric worker, shipwright or pipefitter to ensure ability to instruct generic training. Experience incorporating the latest developments and integrate subjects into instruction to maintain up to date training. GS-11

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

LL.M., if related

GS-09

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
