This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). OJJDP provides national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization. The incumbent will support the mission through supporting states and communities to develop and implement coordinated prevention and intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system.

Duties

Serves as a subject matter expert in juvenile justice system, child protection, youth-focused and youth victimization programs and issues (i.e., is called upon to provide training or technical assistance to grantees to ensure effective project implementation and success of programming). Serves as a liaison to stakeholders in the area of grant management to promote practices that are compliant with applicable statutes, regulations, best practices, specific program emphases, and other organizational objectives. Serves as a technical expert in grants and/or cooperative agreement management processes, providing advice and guidance to resolve, implement, or manage issues that involved major areas of uncertainty in approach or methodology. Serves as a technical expert in the evaluation of applications for complex discretionary and/or formula grants and/or cooperative agreements that contain a number of different processes or sub-grant elements, such as comprehensive grant solicitations that will require extensive grant administration work in that the grant will run several years, and data will be collected from multiple sites. Serves as a subject matter expert in juvenile justice system, child protection, youth-focused and youth victimization programs and issues (i.e., is called upon to provide training or technical assistance to grantees to ensure effective project implementation and success of programming).

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Identified gaps in grant management policies, procedures, practices, and documentation related to juvenile justice, youth-focused programs, child protection, and/or an associated field; suggested feasible methods to address identified concerns and implemented improvement recommendations related to juvenile justice, youth-focused programs, child protection, and/or an associated field; Designed and/or developed grant solicitations for grants and/or cooperative agreements related to juvenile justice, youth-focused programs, child protection, and/or an associated field; Reviewed grants and agreement applications for fiscal feasibility and provided assistance to applicants on the grants award and funding process related to juvenile justice; Supported management to develop, coordinate, and implement strategic plans to improve juvenile justice program policies, practices, methods, and organization structure; Developed and implemented new initiatives and/or projects to strengthen, facilitate and integrate agency juvenile justice programs.
