About the Position: Incumbent receives telephone calls and visitors, ascertains nature of call or visit, refers to supervisor or staff member as appropriate; provides routine, non-technical information from office files or knowledge of the organization, functions and policies. Maintains employee's record cards, time and attendance cards, and labor and production for personnel within the activity. Prepares requests for personnel actions, travel orders and vouchers.
Duties
Receive telephone calls and visitors, ascertain nature of call or visit, refer to supervisor or staff member as appropriate.
Use office automation systems and software packages to accomplish work.
Assist with completion of travel authorizations and vouchers.
Receive documents from employees authorizing changes affecting payroll accounts.
Perform data entry to update the master employee record, loading new accounting data for fiscal year changes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires the person selected to complete an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report form within 30 days of appointment and annually.
- Position requires less than 25% of travel.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing clerical/administrative duties such as receiving telephone calls, directing visitors, processing incoming/outgoing mail, maintaining personnel records/training files; preparing requests for personnel actions; assisting with coordination of travel arrangements; utilizing various office automation systems such as DCPDS, ATAAPS, MS Office products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
