About the Position: Serves as a Training Instructor (PAD) advisor to the department Chief on all training and curriculum development matters for the Patient Administration Branch for the US Army Medical Center of Excellence, located in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.

Duties

Instructs courses such as: Patient Eligibility, Uniform Service Health Benefit Program, Patient Trust Fund, Management Control, International SOS, and related courses. Knowledge of medical records and reports, general patient administration requirements, and associated patient management principles sufficient to teach students. Provides instruction in the Patient Administration Officer's Course and other PAD related activities. Participate in task analyses for determining training requirements or in special staff studies of training and testing materials, for which they receive specific guidance on coverage, methodology, approaches, and sources to use. Prepare, administer, and grade examinations; develop, select, and organizes training aids; evaluate student progress, and advise or assist them in improvement when appropriate. Serves as the Digital Training Management System (DTMS) program manager for the branch.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); assisting in reviewing medical course materials for accuracy; analyzing medical training objectives for effective learning; researching medical training methods for effective course delivery; assisting in developing medical instructional course materials to comply with regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Health Care Administration and Management, Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
