Duties
You will ensure inventory is properly maintained and hazardous materials meet shipboard specifications.
You will identify supply discrepancies and recommend solutions.
You will store (Hazardous Materials) HAZMAT materials following prescribed policies and regulations.
You will provide training on inventory and shelf life management.
You will assist with the delivery of HAZMAT from the HAZMAT Center free issue.
You will complete the Afloat HAZMAT Coordinator, Hazardous Material Control and Management Program and Consolidated Hazardous Material Reutilization and Inventory Management Program (CHRIMP) within six months of employment.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position may be coded as “key” and as such you may be required be removed from military recall status. A signed statement of understanding required.
- You may be required to wear personal protective equipment or clothing such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, gloves made of a variety of material types, masks, and rubber aprons
- This position may require short underway periods onboard various classes of US Navy vessels.
- You will perform work inside and outside of warehouses, and aboard ship.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector through knowledge and application of supply chain management of systems and software providing logistical support for services such as receiving, shipping, distribution and delivery of services and materials. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Comply with (Hazardous Material) HAZMAT storage requirements and regulations, labeling, and procedures; 2) Maintain shipment inventory and inspect materials for compliance with regulations; 3) Resolve discrepancies within inventory management and customer service; 4) Utilize automated systems for inventorying and recording records.
