You will serve as a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (HAZMAT) in the MAINTENANCE DEPART (HSM 40) of COMHSLWING.

Duties

You will perform managerial and technical duties in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790 as the Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Control Program Supervisor for the Maint. Dept. of Helanlisubmarine Squadron Light Four Zero (HSL-40). You will be responsible for managing, ordering, and distribution of HAZMAT inventory and resources. You will maintain automated inventory records and collects and maintain data for preparation of reports. You will provide information and training in the handling and ordering of hazardous materials for work centers within HSL-0. You will determine work methods, techniques and local procedures for receipt, custody, care and/or distribution of material. You will insure personnel understand and adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations. You will maintain manual and mechanized database files for the Comprehensive Approach to Pollution Prevention (CAPP) and Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act EPCRA ) reports.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Frequent exposure to irritants and/or hazardous chemicals. Protective clothing and devices must be worn at all times.
  • You must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, stretch and reach. You must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • You must satisfactory complete one of the following training courses with 120 days of assignment Hazardous Materials (Ashore), Course A-493-0031; Defense Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste Handling, Course ALMC-HA.
  • May be required to work other than normal hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or standby duties.

GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
