You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Public Affairs Office at NVRECRUITNGCMD.

Duties

You will coordinate the development of communication strategy, research, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will oversee arrangements with media involving agency activities. You will implement information management policies to improve internal and external communication processes. You will brief management to provide status, updates, or other information. You will draft responses, speeches, or other written materials for internal and external audiences. You will advise leaders or the Public Affairs office on community relations issues and programs that could negatively impact the organization and its operations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Provide counsel to leaders and staff, including subordinate staff on public affairs matters, interactions and communications to internal and external audiences. 2. Developing communication strategies for promoting public awareness of an organization's mission or services 3. Conducting research and filtering data to produce clear, logical, and concise oral and written communications. and 4. Developing complete oral, written or visual communication plans and techniques for an organization and planning and technical services in designing approaches resolving public affairs problems in various program areas. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related or a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
