About the Position: This position is located in an assigned U.S. Recruiting Command (USAREC), Brigade (BDE) Headquarter (HQs), S-8 Budget Division. Incumbent is responsible for preparing the projected annual Command-operating budget, maintaining an integrated budgeting and accounting systems, and analyzing Command funds.
Duties
Aids in the planning of the projected annual operating budget to meet anticipated needs.
Reviews commitments and obligations of funds for conformity with the funding program.
Maintains an integrated budgeting system to provide effective control over the organizations financial resources.
Serves as Fund Pre-Certification/Certification officer for all financial documents processed by assigned Command.
Anticipate problem areas to recommend revision of funding.
Consolidates budget and accounting data to explain the financial result of operation to senior leadership.
Analyzes the executions of funds for assigned financial accounts.
Monitor the Government Travel Card Program to ensure travel documents are processed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) less than 25% required in this position.
- This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position. Incumbent of this position is required to complete the Financial Management certification in required timeframe.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an established accounting system to financial transactions; analyzing data to recommend changes to fund allocations; compiling budget estimates to provide accounting reports; reviewing financial documents to determine whether funds are within approved budget. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Economics, or Financial Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
