Duties
This position is located in the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Administration Division, Budget Development Branch. Performs a variety of duties involving the formulation, justification and presentation of all Bureau of Prisons’ budgets and the preparation of periodic and special reports. Translates raw budget data into a required budget format and exhibits, and prepares special financial, budget and project analyses for Bureau programs such as, obligations incurred, project status, modernization and repair of existing facilities and positions and work years required for one of the following Bureau programs:

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-12 and GS-13: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this grade level. Experience: GS-12 and GS-13: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progress for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of qualifying experience are: GS-12:
Experience which demonstrates knowledge of the formulation, justification, and presentation requirements of budget submissions to agency officials.
Experience in applying advanced analytical knowledge to identify, interpret, and utilize information from multiple sources in preparation of budget presentations.
Experience in planning and organizing a variety of budget activities and plans to maintain efficient operations of the agency.
Experience in gathering and analyzing data via automated financial systems to craft complex and/or special report assignments.
GS-13:
Experience in the formulation, justification, and presentation requirements of budget submissions to agency officials, Office of Management and Budget and Congress.
Experience in providing advice and guidance to Executive staff regarding annual budget requirements, annual obligations and operating costs, special projects and operational budgetary issues/problems.
Experience in translating budget data into a required budget format and exhibits, and prepares special financial, budget and project analysis, impact statements for obligations incurred and project status.
Experience in performing continuous review of appropriations through reports to identify and resolve budget issues, ensure that the use of funds is consistent with budget estimates, Congressional intent and Office of Management and Budget’s policy.
