The primary purpose of this position is to support development and acquisition weapons, while effectively allocating/utilize resources to ensure successful check out of design/installation, and operation of complex, state-of-the-art instrumentation systems prior to release for flight test requirements ensuring RDT&E and OT&E acquisition program solutions.
Duties
Designs, fabricates, installs, maintains specialized instrumentation systems to measure and record data in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions.
Team Leader responsible for planning, organizing and execution of mission support test objectives, analyze and understand aircraft instrumentation and data collection systems and ensure proper configurations.
Responsible for the day-to-day execution of preflights, postflights, mod support, instrumentation trouble shooting, TDY's, pod maintenance & loading, provides technical oversight to verify that aircraft instrumentation requirements have been accurately defined for all scheduled test mission support.
Active participation in Instrumentation 101 Integration Lab training & Preflight Technical Training Modules. Promotes continuous training on new and legacy instrumentation for a well trained workforce that fosters autonomous operation and increased effectiveness of our personnel.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-8, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. This experience must have included the use of
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-8 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the NH-03 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Ability to design, fabricate, install and maintain specialized instrumentation systems which measure and record test parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions.
A thorough knowledge of electronic principles and practices, operating parameters, capabilities, and limitations of electronic systems and components associated with airborne and ground instrumentation systems.
Knowledge of basic electronic concepts and ability to convert theoretical ideas to functional components and systems.
Skill in the interpretation of technical data such as drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications of complete electronic systems.
Ability to use electronic test equipment.
Ability to perform calibration and troubleshooting for installed instrumentation systems, including video recording, digital data recording, weapon function monitoring, and other data collection systems.
Ability to provide technical leadership to other technicians and support personnel.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
