This position is assigned to the Assistant Chief of Staff of the Mental Health Service Line. The incumbent provides short term rehabilitation services to Veterans, family members, and groups of Veterans. The position supervises a team comprised of Rehabilitation Technicians (RT) in providing inpatient front-line clinical services to Veterans in the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (DRRTP) 24/7 setting.

The Supervisory Rehabilitation Technician assists the DRRTP Operations Manager with oversight of RRTP 24/7 front-line clinical staff. Assists with the administration of policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory organizations, to include, but not limited to: VHA, CARF, The Joint Commission, and Office of the Inspector General. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-8) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. This experience must have involved the observation of and assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of either humans or, under laboratory conditions, animals. Experience may have been gained in connection with a program of research or direct services in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of the principles, methods, and techniques of psychology needed to assist professional psychologists. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing short term, rehabilitation services to Veterans who are diagnosed with mental illnesses or co-occurring disorders; identifying veteran treatment goals; utilizing and teaching communication, relapse prevention, and problem-solving techniques; planning and coordinating work to be accomplished by other staff; establishing priorities for a department; resolving problems and providing guidance to others on rehabilitation services; and making recommendations on improvement of work production and quality of work. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. of J.D. in a related field of the position to be filled (i.e., psychology, statistics, or other directly related subjects). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience as described above, to meet the total experience requirements.
