The employee will be assigned as a Rehabilitation Technician at the White City or VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center in White City, OR. The employee provides short term rehabilitation services to Veterans and their family members.

Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Cares and comforts all residential patients and acts as residential rehabilitation first-line clinician.
Reports individual progress or problems to the interdisciplinary team.
Works with individual patients to bring about a reconciliation of issues.
Exercises judgment to identify patient treatment goals, supports the treatment plan and obtains other pertinent clinical information in conjunction with the treatment team.
Directs and supports the patient in the implementation of treatment goals and provides input into the treatment and discharge plans.
Provides consultation to the leadership of the therapeutic community groups and resident committee.
Interacts with interdisciplinary treatment teams on treatment plan development, implementation and progress review.
Assists patients in determining the steps they need to take in order to achieve treatment goals.
Facilities daily individual and group sessions, utilizes sophisticated skills to achieve the patient's goals of highest level of function and rehabilitation.
Utilizes and teaches communication, relapse prevention and problem-solving techniques with individuals and groups.
Provides counseling follow-up of patient case load, utilizes accepted standards for individual counseling techniques concerned with psychosocial recovery and rehabilitation.
Documents written notes in a resident's medical record.
Responds to emergencies and assumes temporary control of situations and areas.
Evaluates and assesses patients who may be at risk to hurt themselves or others and notifies other staff and providers as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Do you possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position? To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal service. Experience that involved the observation of and assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests and activities of either humans or under laboratory conditions, animals. Experience may have been gained in connection with a program of research or direct services in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of the principles, methods and techniques of psychology needed to assist professional psychologists.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have successfully completed one full year of graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required. Education/internship must be directly related to this position. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
OR
COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combination of successfully completed graduate-level education (in excess of 6 months) combined with specialized experience to qualify for this position. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
