About the Position: The position is located at the US Army Armor School (USAARMS) Armor Branch P Office, Ft Moore, GA 31905. The Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Al. The geography and climate are ideal for year-round military training. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

Duties

Serves as the Director of the Office of the Chief of Armor (OCOA), providing managerial and technical advice and direction to promote the efficiency, effectiveness, and health of the Armor Branch. Provides technical and managerial guidance and consultation on matters relating to Doctrine, Organization, Training, Leader Development, Personnel, and Policy for the Armor Force and branch. Makes decisions and commitments of a binding nature, based on a mastery level knowledge of regulatory and procedural requirements. Analyzes and evaluates performance through effectiveness of planning, management and organizational accomplishments, meeting objectives, utilization of available resources, and compliance with established policies and procedures. Implements the Commandant’s Guidance with regards to actions involving planning, programming, resourcing, and scheduling of training executed within the Armor School. Serves as senior civilian advisor for HQ, Armor School and subordinate units. Directly supervises a diverse workforce of military officers, enlisted, and DA civilians. Oversee and manage OCOA’s operational budgets. Serves as primary entry point of contact for all internal and external matters specifically affecting Armor and Cavalry Organizations and personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 30% of the time.
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the OPM General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
