About the Position: Military Analyst (Space & Missile Def Sys), Deputy Chief of Staff, G3, Operations Division, Current Operations Branch, with duty location Colorado Springs, CO.
Duties
Serve as a team leader, project leader and/or technical specialist with respect to United States Army Space and Missile Defense (SMD) Center of Excellence (CoE) Army Capability Manager Space and High Altitude (ACM SHA).
Provide expert consultation, professional documentation, and advice to (ACM SHA) leadership, senior government officials, and contractors on assigned areas of responsibility.
Responsible for planning, performing, directing, coordinating and/or controlling the efforts of contractors, consultants, government agencies engaged in identification involving future Army space and missile defense systems.
Attend a wide range of meetings with government organizations, academia and private industry, IPTs, ICTs, and conferences.
Represent in meetings and committees with various elements of command and other Combatant Commanders.
Stay abreast of emerging TRADOC and Army Future Command efforts with respect to capability development and Army transformation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position may be covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent may be required to sign a DA Form 5019-R.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the employee travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) experience developing plans and/or techniques to fit new situations to improve overall Space Development program and policies; (2) experience planning and/or developing Space doctrine, requirements, experimentation, training, and/or concepts of operations policies and/or programs; and (3) experience analyzing and/or evaluating the effectiveness of space systems to meet a Federal Governmental Agency needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
