About the Position: Serves in the Environmental Health Branch, Department of Preventive Health Services at the Health Readiness Center of Excellence (HRCoE), Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Conducts training for Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Reporting System-Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH). Creates training situation and procures required training aid to enhance situation awareness. Conducts validations, analyzes results, reports on validation, and review course materials and test as required. Writes lesson plans and other elements of curriculum development, information papers and other staff actions, and technical documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Travel duty TDY may be require up to 20% of the time.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain Secret background investigation.
  • An Instructor Training certification and Support Cadre Training certification will be required to obtain and maintain within 6 months of appointment.

Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes assisting in developing training strategies, training plans and/or material systems for the organization; conducting reviews of course materials, aids, and/or devices and evaluating training results to comply with training requirements; researching technology and technical data to improve the efficiency of medical training programs; identifying deficiencies and training needs to acquire needed equipment to meet the organization's training mission; providing guidance to the material developers on training devices and simulation projects during the training development phase. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education or Instructional Design. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailOrganizational AwarenessProblem SolvingTraining and Education Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-09.
