You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the FORCE PROTECTION DIVISION of HDQTRS NDW. You will serve as the Regional Antiterrorism Director.

Duties

You will assign work to junior level employees on the basis of selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of the employee. You will orally present a security program plan of action and milestone report to senior management on a security forces deployment scenario. You will analyze and interpret security regulations, processes, and procedures for the protection of the activity's information, assets, and personnel. You will coordinate Law Enforcement, Physical Security and Anti-Terrorism programs to achieve a coordinated approach to security for the organization. You will conduct on-site visits to verify security procedures are being met and identify potential threats and vulnerabilities. You will compose reports to deliver security program guidance throughout an organization.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • The employee is required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
  • The employee may be recalled to duty.
  • The employee may be required to maintain weapons proficiency in order to carry a government issued weapon while on duty in the performance of official duties.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing management, antiterrorism and physical security program guidance; 2) Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting deadlines, priorities, and schedules for completion; 3) Reviewing work methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness; 4) Identifying and applying new technologies, theories and security concepts for defense of the installation and mitigation of vulnerabilities; 5) Overseeing local treat assessment information provided by other law enforcement and homeland security organizations. Inspections will include, but not limited to, office buildings, industrial facilities, and large military installations. Inspections and surveys may take place in attics, crawlspaces, walls, ceilings, and other limited access spaces, in rough terrain or in construction sites when planning and monitoring the installation of security systems as part of original construction. Duties may involve lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects of 50 pounds or less. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in settings in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, such as high levels of noise in contractors' plants, high temperatures and adverse weather conditions. When surveying new construction and building renovations the employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields for personal protection. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
