Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of subordinate computer specialists and contractors performing systems management, systems administration, network administration, data administration, ... ... disaster recovery, enterprise management and production administration work. Provides for the integration of systems/products into the current DLA Enterprise Information Technology infrastructure in support of Department of Defense (DoD) components, Civilian Agencies, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS). Applies a thorough knowledge of management principles and procedures, planning and leadership practices and techniques to direct and control the work of subordinates and provide guidance and oversight. Serves as program/project manager for internal or external DoD managers, program/project managers and/or technical personnel to accomplish assigned tasks. Occasionally serves as a member of a team with designated personnel to perform reviews of processes, facilities, etc. at other DLA operating locations

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supervisory IT Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Determines appropriate products or services with clients/customers to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables. - Plans, administers, makes decisions, and coordinates the work of assigned staff to maintain operations as part of the mission to provide and maintain a 24 hour a day/365 day a year, mission critical, logistics gateway to assigned customers. - Applies comprehensive technical knowledge of system administration functions associated with the implementation and integration of hardware systems and the implementation and maintenance of software products. - Oversees and provides guidance to personnel responsible for the integration and administration of hardware, operating systems and software for workstations and/or servers, storage/tape area network hardware and software, configurations and tuning, databases installation and management, network hardware and configurations, commercial off the shelf (COTS) software product installation and integration, compliance with Information Assurance policies and procedures, and monitoring and operations of these components across all agency operating locations. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed: 1. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
