About the Position: This position is located in the AMC Womack, Directorate of Clinical Support, Nutrition Care, at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Incumbent will assist the dietitian in carrying out the dietary functions involved in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nutritional needs for short- and long-term patient.
Tour of Duty Hours: Rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. 1st Shift 0430-1300,2nd Shift 0930-1800

Duties
Plan patient's menu, modifying diet for patients from diet plan.
Adjust quantities of nourishments in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Assist the dietitian in nutritional screening and assessment of patients needs by securing and evaluating diet histories.
Provide dietary instructions to patient prior to discharge.
Provide instructions to patients on menu selection procedures, and their prescribed diet order.
Perform office automation duties using a personal computer to input, store, retrieve, and record data.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- The position requires rotating early (0500-1330) and late shift (1000-1830). Weekend days as well.
- This position may be designated as essential during inclement weather conditions or other appropriate emergency conditions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting patients in planning daily meals per their prescribed diet order, food tolerances and/or medical condition; reviewing patient's electronic medical record for prescribed diet order; assisting higher level dietetic technicians with educating patients on their prescribed diet; operating computerized systems in a medical treatment facility to record patient's diet/meal information.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Have Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position such as Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
