This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the Department of Emergency Medicine located at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC. Providing servicing to one of the largest US Army garrisons.

Duties

Manages and supervises the work of the Advance Life Support (ALS) Emergency Medical Services. Develops and/or revises regulations/directives relating to Emergency Medical Services. Assists emergency medical team to emergency sites as Chief attendant. Serves as Emergency Medical Technician Advanced Paramedic, performing a wide variety of difficult paraprofessional medical tasks at emergency scene. Establishes policies and procedures for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) organization and Supervisors. Ensures employees are informed regarding personnel programs, equal employment, and other government wide programs.

Requirements

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Must have and maintain current certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians/Paramedics (NREMT/P) as established under the provisions of the Federal Highway Safety Act, 23 USC.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver's license.
  • This position is designated as weather essential.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: For In-Service Applicants Only: Current Army Employees, and DCIPS Eligible. I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes on-the-job training; coordinate work schedules for emergency medical personnel; developing elements for performance standards; and counseling employees on various issues, resolving minor complaints and/or operating a patient transport vehicle. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Specialized Experience: ALL other eligible applicants: VEOA, DoD Military Spouse, Land Management, Army DIB, MRTFB and ICTAP Eligible. One year of specialized experience which includes planning work schedule for emergency medical personnel; evaluating performance of assigned personnel, counseling as needed; verifying time cards for emergency employees; interviewing and selecting applicants from list of eligible candidates and providing formal and on-the-job training. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement for In-Service: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement for Other: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
