About the Position: Incumbent will serve as the Human Resources Specialist (Military/Information Systems) for Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Military Personnel Division's - Sustainment Branch, Installation Automation Section for the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army system utilizing Human Resources and Information Management skills.

Duties

Serves as the Personnel Automation Branch Management Specialist responsible for performing as the technical expert on all applicable Army military personnel hardware and software operations . Uses automation and general office equipment to update databases and military personnel automation systems and prepare reports, correspondence, and statistical data Enters and/or validates data entered in automated systems, as needed, and resolves discrepancies including but not limited to DA feedback notices and expired Report Date Notices Develop and execute a plan to provide security for military personnel automation systems. Prepares, submits, and updates an Automated Personnel Systems Access Register. Assigns work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and employees' capabilities. Reviews work in progress or on completion to ensure the quality and quantity of work performed are acceptable Provides training to employees and unit S-1s on IPPS-A

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience Providing advice and guidance to system users on network communications problems, Retrieving and/or analyzing Military Human Resource Management data and files, and developing local guidance and instructional materials/classes on use of automated military personnel applications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management, Business Management and Public Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)HR Information Systems ApplicationLeadershipPersonnel and Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
